I know they are suppose to hiss when the water runs through them, but it does it constantly. I had the control set at 40 degrees, and i turned it down one notch so the hissing would stop. I have an aprilair humidifier installed on my forced warm air furnace. While it appears to work, in cold weather it does not seem to humidify enough and we supplement it with a room humidifier. Would the furnace humidifier produce more humidity if the fan were set to work all the time, instead of just when the heat goes on?

We moved into a newer home and it was built with a furnace humidifier which I'm not even sure how to use this is our first house but some of the basement cement blocks are sweating, it feels dry but only a few of the blocks look wet. Do I need a dehumidifier as well??

I have moved into a house with an humidifier attached to the furnace and I am not sure what setting I should use.I have been told that the setting is dependant on the outside temperature .. but I am not sure if that is correct.I live in Ontario Canada and it is around 30 degrees F for the low, now, and 40 50 degrees F for the high.

I am planning to install a furnace humidifier soon. My son has asthma and is very sensitive to dry air. One concern I have is whether the furnace humidifier will grow mold inside the furnace, the humidifier itself or grow mold inside the house.
