Gas furnace problems? Thermostat or something else?
I have a gas furnace in my home, the furnace itself works, it came on like two days ago. But now every time i try to turn it on the furnace doesnt want to kick on. Thermostat says heat on, and I have tried putting it to 90 or right at 78 when the heat icon pops up. Could it be the thermostat we have? FYI this has been happening to us for the past two weeks, it works just fine for a couple days and then it wont come on. Then we tried to unplug the furnace to plug in something else to see if thats the problem, and as soon as we plug the furnace back in it usually comes back on, but not this time... could it be our thermostat or something else?

Electric furnace problems?
My furnace is acting up. When it heats and reaches the temperature that the thermostat it set the blower shuts off but the heating element stays on to where the furnace starts to overheat and smells like a burnt hair dryer. We have to shut it off by the fuse box until it gets cold again. we turn it on by the fuse box and it starts fine every time but then it happens again the blower will go off when it reaches the set temp but the heating element stays on until we throw the beaker againwhat causes this and is it expensive to fix

Gas furnace problems?
okay, my gma has a furnace run on propane, and the fan on it wont shut off, but the heat itself isnt turning on... her brother in law thinks it may be the transformer? but we were wondering if thats what it could be, or if there may be something else causing the problem? and if it is the tranformer where would that be located?

Lennox whisper heat furnace problems?
Yes we have a gas furnace and when I try and turn it on I will make the attempt I will hear the ticking and the gas but after several ticks it sound like it powers down. It did this last year but after a couple of days it came on and there was no more trouble. Is there something I can do or if I need to call someone what do you think it is and how much do you think it will set me back? Thanks

Furnace Problem...Who's Right?
I ve got an occasional problem with my 8 year old gas furnace failing to fire. Two separate repairmen gave me what I think is a bad diagnosis. They say the airflow detector that senses air rising in the furnace room vent duct is sticking and should be replaced. One guy tapped the detector, and the furnace started. But neither guy went to the attic. The vent duct terminates in the attic the installer never ran it all the way to the roof. I think the problem is that there needs to be outside air flow across the top of the vent duct to create enough updraft for the sensor to measure. Who s right?

I have a Gas furnace problem can anyone help?
My natural gas furnace does this igniter starts, flame comes on, blower comes on. there is a click and flame goes out. About 20 secs later while blower is still running igniter starts, flame comes on. stays lite for about 45 60 secs, there is a click, flame goes out. It repeats this cycle over and over. Home does not get even warm. I have read that there is a sensor that might be dirty. I blew the area out with air but no change. Any HVAC guys out there willing to give advice? Thank you.

Is my Furnace problem due to heat exchanger or something else? Question?
My furnace is not blowing air. The hot air " trickles" out of the vents. Furnace repairman said it is due to clogged heat exchanger Replace for $1000.00 no warranty or buy new furnace . When he disconnected the outside air intake pvc pipe from furnace, the gas lit up and furnace now runs. He indicated this is a temporary fix bringing more air into system . My questions Is it safe? Is the heat exhanger the problem? What do you think is the problem and most reasonably priced solution? ThanksI just want to say thanks for all your answers great information, and I love the golf ball idea. I do not know furnaces obviously , but believe I should be able to follow a logical progression in how it works so thought I would ask. The actual notes on bill are " Secondary is plugged heat exchanger." Then there is a note " 1.4 with pvc connected 2.15 with pvc disconnected." I would imagine that is amount of air flow. Any additional thoughts are welcome. And, thanks I just want to say thanks for all your answers great information, and I love the golf ball idea. The fan does run it seems like its old self although the heat coming out may not be as hot.

Tappan Furnace problem, malfunctioning?
My Tappan model C3BA 024C A natural gas furnace started acting up about a month ago. The gas would ignite and about 15 seconds later the blower would come on normal operation I'm pretty sure. But...the blower would turn off within 15 seconds of turning on. The gas stayed ignited and the blower turned back on after about 10 seconds. Then it would work properly until the house was up to the required temperature. It has gotten progressively worse. Now what happens is similar to what I just wrote but it's a little different. Now the gas ignites and runs for about 15 seconds as it should However, when the blower turns on, the gas turns off. The blower runs for about 15 seconds and the gas is re ignited. They run together for a few seconds but then the gas turns off again with the blower still running. The blower then turns off and gas is re ignited. About 15 seconds later the blower comes on again and you guessed it...the gas turns off shortly thereafter. It eventually heats the house but the furnace turns on and off about 6 times when it should run just one time. It seems to me like a sensor is going bad but I have no idea where to start. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks

Heil Gas Furnace problems?
My Heil gas furnace is under the house. Whenever there is too much rain, the crawl space gets damp and the furnace won't start. I can hear it try to turn on, but I don't hear the flame unit ignite and the blower doesn't turn on. After a couple of days, when the crawl space is dry again, the furnace works just fine.People have suggested the control board as the problem. I'm wondering if there is any chance that something may have rusted out on it or a sensor is dirty. So before crawling under the house and trying to open this thing up to see what's what, I'd was hoping for some input on what to look for as a cause to the problem and what solutions you'd suggest.Thank you.
