Need help with Goodman gas furnace, changed 3 parts and no heat.?
My natural gas furnace has worked fine up to last Friday. I had been leaving it on all day and turn it off at night. The temperature only fell about 9 degrees over night. I turned it off at 9pm on Thursday and the next morning turned it on at 9am. I left the room and later noticed it was rather cool. I went back and noticed the thermostat showed the heater was on but the temperature was still at 65 degrees and not the desired 74 degrees. I changed the igniter, sensor, and pressure switch. Still the red light on the circuit board blinks 3 times which is supposed to be a pressure switch problem. I called a repairman and he says " you changed all the parts except the circuit board" . He thinks he is failing to hear " a click" on the circuit board that signals that gas is being sent to the combustion part of the panel. Anyone got any ideas on a Goodman circuit board? The model number is 9804618573 GMP050 3 REV.I've used Google and not getting anything specific. The guy said try the same parts house for a new circuit board. Is that the best option at this point? The thermostat is turning on the venter and the pressure switch is working properly. The new igniter and sensor are not even being given a chance to work because it appears the circuit board is not sending the signal to release the gas. No heat since Nov. 25th and the inside temperature is 44 degrees. Any help here?well, picking the best answer will be hard. Let me add details. My board does have a 3 amp fuse like the kind in older cars. Fuse is good. I think the port was blocked when I used a paper clip. I met resistance. I cleaned it completely as I could and restarted the unit and still get the 3 red blinking lights pressure switch failure to close. I got the new sensor and ignitor for a total of $40 and the pressure switch was $15. And 6 gallons of gas to the adjacent city. These were the 3 checkpoints before I posted my question or had read all the comments. Not bad for those 3 new parts. The repairman says I've replaced everything except the gas valve and circuit board and the motor but the motor is working. I can get the board locally for $110. He's coming back and we can check voltages, and other non part changing things.I'll go with the first answer where the port was mentioned.I used a paper clip and it was clearly partially blocked.Still no heat.I removed the vent pipe, removed the motor and looked at the interior end of the port. Blocked. The paper clip was too thick to make it all the way through. I used a long sewing needle, and cleared it and it fired up. So, heat is working and for $15 in gas and $40 in parts I got a new sensor, igniter, and switch. And the old ones may very well still work.
